Perfect for your skin with all of its naturally occurring essential fatty acids, avocado can be mushed up and used on your face as a mask, all of the healthy oils will absorb, leaving your skin looking and feeling amazing. Avocado will fight signs of ageing and target fine lines and wrinkles with its strong antioxidant properties. You can even apply avocado to sun burns, for a natural relief alternative.
This baby can be mixed up into a million different recipes to create DIY beauty products. Our fave way to use lemon is on your hair. Lemon can be used to lighten and brighten blondes and if you mix ¼ cup lemon juice with ½ cup water, you can use it after shampooing and conditioning your hair to combat oiliness from product build up, this will leave your hair looking shiny and healthy.
This may well be the worst ingredient you can put into your body via your mouth… BUT topically this baby is everything! Sugar is the perfect exfoliant, use it to get rid of dead skin cells. You can wet your finger and dip it into some sugar and apply it to your lips in circular motions for the perfect lip smoother, ideal for winter when they get dry and flaky. Check out our very own Sugar Glow!
Honey is a naturally occurring antibacterial and antimicrobial, which means it is the perfect way to fight bacteria, by applying it to stubborn spots and acne. Honey also calms irritation and reduces redness, so next time you have problem skin, look to honey as your saviour.
Baking soda is an antifungal, antiseptic and exfoliant. It can be used in many ways for your health and beauty. We like to add a ½ cup to our bath water to create natural bath soak, this will neutralise acids, remove excess dirt, oils and perspiration from the skin. Baking soda will soften and sooth dry, irritated skin from bites, burns and irritations. Baking soda can also be used as an antiperspirant deodorant, just mix it in with your favourite essential oil to create a paste, put it into an empty container and rub into your armpits with your fingers or a brush. This is a great way to avoid toxins from regular deodorants.
Apple Cider Vinegar
The perfect multi-tasking product to have in your home. There are hundreds of ways you can use apple cider vinegar to bring your beauty game to the next level. Our fave way to use this bad boy, is as a natural facial toner. Mix one tablespoon with one cup of water and swab across your face with a cotton pad, no need to rinse it off, the smell will dissipate almost instantly. The reason this baby is so good as a toner is, it is filled with naturally occurring alpha-hydroxy acids and acetic acid which minimise pores, balance your skin’s PH level and stimulate circulation #winning.
Try some of these DIY natural beauty products at home, you most probably already have them all in your kitchen. Let us know what you think, we would love to hear from you and about your experiences. That’s all for now babes.Chantelle Bugeja for BodyBlendz
